Flutterbye

I found a great new site. See her in my sidebar. Her name is Amy at Flutterbye.
She's teaching me how to draw faces!

I started with an eye (actually a bunch of eyes)

Next was noses

And then some mouths.

Then I put the whole thing together and added a little shading. Amy was great at explaining the shading. 

 She's not perfect, or symetrical, but it's a face. I've always been intimidated by faces. Not so much now.

Stop on over. She's teaching a lot of great stuff. and it's FREE.

Here I was in a zen kinda mood. Used home made spray for the background. Sharpie and watercolor paint for the hand.

Happy Anniversary to us!

These are the first and last pages of a album/journal I made for me and hubby several years ago. We've been together 23 years today, and married 18 years today. I love him.

School days. He was in Texas, I was on Cape Cod.

Love is grand.

Pumpkin time!!!

I found these amazing pumpkins today at Lovely Crafty Home. (Go  look at hers!!

I had to run right down to Dollar Tree and pick up a few pumpkins. Here's my first attempt.  Just covered with scrapbook paper, and added a couple of floral wire curlys.

Oops! I see a bit of orange peeking through, oh well, that's what Sharpies are for.

Stenciliing 101

Julie Fey Fan Balzer recently had a Stenciling 101 course. I made a few ATC's and a tag,  and what a difference from my old stencils!! Very crisp! Thanks Julie.

 If you collect ATC's and would like one, just leave a comment,  I'll contact you for your address. I've got about 13 of them.

And just for fun, I used alchol inks on my coffee cup again, this time I added some Zentangels. No one picks it up accidently!!

Elements: Self-Guided

Elements: Self-Guided

TEoAJ had its first run through July/August of 2011. We spent 8 weeks together creating pages that reflected our experiences with the elements of life: Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Spirit. This course has been packaged up for those of you who prefer a self-guided experience.

Spirit

This is the last of the sections in Effy's Elements of Art Journaling course. I've really enjoyed this course, and just because we're currently working on the last section doesn't mean it's going away forever.  Stop on over and check it out!! I picked up lots of techniques, met lots of new friends, and saw lots of beautiful art that others did!

I finally worked on the element Fire for Effy Wild's The Elements of Art Journaling! I've really enjoyed, and learned a lot in this class.

Catching up.

I have a couple of pieces that I wanted to post but hadn't gotten around to. I've taken on this whole art thing as part of therapy, just a little before I even realized that I needed it. This was a page that just happened this week.

Then on a lighter note, Wild Precious had a weekend challenge to use a poem. Since the rules were 'no rulz' I didn't use a poem I used lyrics.

I had fun with this one. The roses are stamped with celery stalks.I cut them out and put some foam behind them to give them some deminsion. The leaves and the suns are from hand carved stamps. The lyrics are the last verse of Janis Joplin's 'The Rose'

Thanks fto the web.You can find so many videos that show you how to do all kinds of wonderful  things. I've use a lot of them from Wild Precious Studio.

Octopode Friday Challange.

The challenge was hats/crowns.  It's hard to tell from this picture but I 'fussy cut' the Octopodes and pop dotted them for dimension. I love working with these little guys.

Overkill

It's been weeks since I did an update, I won't hit you all at once but it is graphic intesive, I've made the files small enough that they should load quickly. As always you can click them to make them bigger if you'd like.

This first one was for a collage class they are offering at Wild Precious. I got out of my dark colors for this one and added lots of things that make me happy. How I forgot coffee, I'll never know...other than that, I'm happy with it.

Here's another technique I learned at Wild Precious. I'm not real happy with the colors, I may change them yet, I may leave them and just do another page, but you see the circle on the right page with the flowers over it.......

I thought it was a nifty technique!

Heres a couple of pages for my Elements of Art Journaling* at Wild Precious Studio. We are working with  earth, air, water,  fire, and spirit. I''m learning a lot of techniques, digging deep into emotions that should have been excavated years ago.

This page was done with collage and transfers. I've been wanting to work with transfers for a long time. Ever since I saw Julie Fey-Fan Balzer do a project on Scrapbook Memories!
